Wild chives, locally known as "Skotse" in Ladakh, are hardy, perennial herbs that grow naturally in the high-altitude meadows and alpine pastures of the region (above 3,000 meters). A close relative of garlic and onion, these aromatic green stalks have a delicate onion-garlic flavor. They are foraged by local communities in summer and are traditionally sun-dried to preserve them for year-round use.
Form: Usually sold in dried bundles or chopped flakes.
Wild chives from Ladakh are a rare and seasonal delicacy—perfect for those seeking clean, mountain-grown, chemical-free flavor with a cultural and healthful legacy.
